The symptoms
You usually notice it because the rear spoiler no longer retracts properly. Typical signs:
- The spoiler stays open after it has extended
- The spoiler sits crooked or sags on one side
- It often starts on one side and later follows on the other

The cause: a broken plastic spring housing
The spoiler mechanism has a torsion spring on each side. The spring itself rarely fails. The weak point is the plastic housing that holds the spring in place: over time it cracks or breaks.
At around 10 years, most 991.1s run into this. Because both sides use the same plastic housing, the other side is likely to break later as well.

What does the dealer say?
Porsche does not repair this part. The advice is almost always to replace the complete spoiler unit. Including labour that easily comes to over €5,000 – for a problem that is really one small plastic part.

The solution: a stainless steel bracket
With the 911 Spoiler Fix repair kit you replace the weak plastic with laser-cut grade 304 stainless steel. The kit contains everything for left and right: two stainless steel brackets, two spring blocks, two pop rivets with washers, a plastic spacer and a 3 mm drill bit.
Fitting takes about an hour and is suitable for an experienced DIYer – or let your workshop do it. Step-by-step instructions with video are included.

What is the delivery time?

What tools do I need?
You need a Torx T25 and T45, a 10 mm socket wrench, a drill, a pop rivet gun, needle-nose pliers and a spring hook. The 3 mm drill bit, rivets and spacer are included. Allow about an hour; fitting is suited to experienced DIYers.
Is there a manual for fitting the brackets?
Yes, our online manual guides you through fitting the brackets step by step.
What material are the brackets made of?
The brackets are laser-cut from 1 mm grade 304 stainless steel and finished in black paint. It does not rust and is much stronger and more durable than the original plastic.
Why are there two brackets in the kit?
Usually one side breaks first. The other side has the same weak plastic housing and tends to fail later as well, so this kit lets you repair both sides in one go.
